Anthony Lloyd has forced his way out of a medical unit in Lewisham, triggering a multi-agency search across London and six surrounding counties. The Metropolitan Police describe the 38-year-old prisoner as a danger to both himself and the public, urging residents to call 999 if they spot him rather than attempting to approach.

The escape began shortly after 4pm on Friday. Lloyd left the health facility in the south-east of the city and was last seen heading toward Catford at approximately 4.10pm. He is white, stands 5ft 8in, and has a medium build with short dark hair. Witnesses noted he was wearing a grey-blue T-shirt, black tracksuit bottoms, and white trainers.

Lloyd’s current status follows a 2025 conviction for actual bodily harm. The crime involved three emergency services workers in Nottinghamshire, resulting in a 12-month custodial sentence. He was transferred from prison to the Lewisham medical facility in September, where he remained until his Friday departure.

Detective Superintendent Melanie Pressley is leading the effort to return Lloyd to custody. She stated that officers are conducting various inquiries to locate him. Pressley emphasized the urgency of the situation, asking the public to report any information, however small, as a matter of urgency.

While the primary search focuses on the capital, police believe Lloyd has links to areas beyond London. The investigation now extends to Surrey, Sussex, Thames Valley, Hampshire, Nottinghamshire, Derbyshire, and Merseyside. This geographic expansion reflects the locations where the fugitive may have personal or historical connections.

The Metropolitan Police have assigned the reference CAD4739/23Oct to the case. The force continues to appeal for public assistance in narrowing down Lloyd’s potential whereabouts, with the search operation expected to continue until he is recaptured.
