Apple has released support documentation that defines the specific hardware required for the iPhone Duo to achieve its maximum charging speeds. The new device supports rapid recharging over both wired and wireless connections, but the headline performance metrics rely on pairing the phone with compatible power accessories.

The company first introduced the iPhone Duo with dual charging capabilities, positioning the speed as a key feature for users who need to top up their battery quickly. Until now, the exact specifications for third-party hardware were not fully detailed in official guidance. Apple’s latest clarification removes ambiguity about which cables and adapters will deliver the advertised performance.

For wired charging, the documentation states that the iPhone Duo can reach 50 percent battery in approximately 20 minutes. To achieve this, users must use the USB-C cable included in the box along with a power adapter capable of delivering at least 60 watts. Apple lists its own 40W Dynamic Power Adapter with 60W Max, priced at $34, as a primary option. Third-party adapters are also acceptable provided they use Adjustable Voltage Supply and support USB Power Delivery 3.2.

Wireless charging operates at a slower pace, with Apple stating the phone reaches 50 percent in about 30 minutes. This requires a MagSafe Charger, listed at $30, or a third-party adapter rated for 35 watts or higher. The guidance explicitly names compatible adapters from Apple and Anker as suitable choices for this wireless speed.

The release of these specifications allows consumers to evaluate their existing charging setups against the new requirements. The documentation notes that Apple’s 40W adapter is available at a reduced price, while a 2-meter USB-C cable is also offered at a discount for those needing more reach than the included cable provides.
