Mexican singer Alfredo Ríos, known professionally as El Komander, has canceled his scheduled appearance in Nuevo León for October 31. The cancellation follows the death of his infant son, José Eliseo Ríos Ávila.
Ríos announced the loss through a public statement on social media. He paired the news with the track 'Descansa mi amor,' a song commonly associated with mourning. The message asked for the family's privacy during this difficult time.
In the written notice, Ríos expressed his hopes for his son's soul. He wrote, 'May divine light illuminate the path of José Eliseo toward eternal life and may you find comfort in the certainty that one day we will reunite in the presence of the Lord.'
The cause of the infant's death has not been disclosed. The singer's management team requested that fans respect the family's privacy as they grieve.
Born José Alfredo Ríos Meza on April 29, 1983, in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Ríos is a central figure in the corridos alterados subgenre. His role as a leader in this movement places him at the forefront of current regional Mexican music trends.
