Apple is scheduled to release iOS 27.2 next week. The update serves as the next major software roll-out for the iPhone. iOS 27.1 was limited to the iPhone Duo, making 27.2 the first broad release in the current cycle.

The update extends the Dual Capture feature to Group FaceTime calls. Dual Capture, introduced in iOS 27, allows users to display front and rear camera views simultaneously during a video call. In the previous version, this capability was restricted to one-on-one conversations. Users will tap a Flip button to activate the rear camera while the front camera remains active.

Apple is also reorganizing the Apple Podcasts interface. The Up Next queue, previously located at the top of the Home tab, is being divided into two distinct sections. The first section, New Episodes, will list the latest releases from shows a user follows. The second section, Continue Playing, will appear directly below. It will serve as a central hub for shows that a listener has started but not finished.

A writer for 9to5Mac, who tested the beta version, described the new podcast layout as a major improvement. The writer previously criticized the old Up Next feature as cluttered. The new structure helps users track their listening progress more effectively.

The Apple TV app on the iPhone will gain support for user profiles for the first time. Profiles have been available on tvOS, but this is their debut on iOS. Upon updating, users will see a profile selection screen when opening the app. This screen can be disabled if users prefer the previous single-user view.

When a profile is active, the app adjusts its content recommendations to match that specific viewer. If a child’s profile is selected, the app will display only age-appropriate series and movies from Apple. This setup helps keep an adult's viewing queue clean and prevents children from accessing unsuitable material on a parent's device.

According to 9to5Mac, the update includes new features across six iPhone apps in total. The release is expected to arrive to the public next week.
