Apple TV and Legendary Television are negotiating a third season of "Monarch: Legacy of Monsters." The current discussions center on a structural overhaul that would replace the existing creative team with new showrunners and writers.
An individual with knowledge of the talks stated that the third installment would introduce new Titans from the Legendary Monsterverse. It is unclear if characters from the first two seasons will continue, as no decision has been made on their future roles. Multiple candidates have already been approached to lead the series.
The show launched on Apple TV in 2023. A second season began airing in February 2026. Chris Black and Matt Faction created the original series. Black served as showrunner and executive producer for the second season. Joby Harold and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures also hold executive producer roles.
Jen Roskind, Matt Shakman, Lawrence Trilling, and Andrew Colville executive produced the second season. Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita represent Toho Co., Ltd., which owns the Godzilla character, in the production capacity.
A separate spinoff is also in the works. Wyatt Russell will star as Col. Lee Shaw in this new series. The plot follows Shaw on a 1984 mission to stop the Soviets from releasing a dangerous new Titan. Joby Harold will serve as showrunner for this spinoff and is developing additional series within the Monsterverse.
The cast for the spinoff includes Millie Brady, Pilou Asbaek, Corey Stoll, Ralph Ineson, Nyasha Hatendi, Connie Nielsen, and Stana Katic.
