Ukraine’s defense forces have killed or wounded 302,000 Russian soldiers using drones since the start of the year, according to the Ministry of Defence.
The ministry released a monthly breakdown of these casualties, showing that March recorded the highest toll at 33,989 soldiers, while February recorded the lowest at 26,204. April followed closely behind March with 33,961 casualties. September saw a sharp rise to 32,739. In the first 25 days of October, Ukrainian drones accounted for another 27,829 casualties. This total is roughly 90,000 higher than the 211,600 figure the ministry reported in early August.
The ministry stated that every drone hit is video-recorded in the Delta combat system. The Brave1 defence innovation cluster then verifies each of these recordings. The department noted that targeting enemy personnel with unmanned aerial vehicles helps exhaust Russian human resources and slows the pace of their offensive. The ministry added that this strategy helps preserve the lives of Ukrainian servicemen by making it harder for Russian units to approach Ukrainian positions.
Ukrainian forces have also engaged Russian air assets heavily this year. The ministry previously reported that defence forces brought down 408,000 Russian drones since January. That total includes nearly 248,000 aircraft-type drones.
The monthly figures for 2026 stand as follows: January recorded 29,572 casualties. May recorded 30,548. June recorded 27,072. July recorded 30,272. August recorded 29,554.
