Israel was “very close” to creating the conditions for regime change in Iran, according to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s foreign policy adviser, Ophir Falk. The assessment comes from an October 15 interview, where Falk noted that the Iranian people must ultimately determine their country’s future.

Ahead of Tuesday’s Israeli election, Falk issued written remarks to The Jerusalem Post. He argued that removing what he called the “genocidal Ayatollah regime” serves the best interests of America, Israel, and civilization. Falk stated that the Trump-Netanyahu team has proven itself suited to accomplish this task.

US President Donald Trump renewed his endorsement of Netanyahu on Sunday evening. In a post on Truth Social, Trump urged Israelis to vote for their Prime Minister on October 27. “Vote for Bibi Netanyahu for Prime Minister; we have to finish the job that we started!” he wrote.

Falk framed the election as a choice on who will lead Israel during the final two years of Trump’s presidency. He asked voters who would best coordinate with the President to finish the work in Iran and expand regional peace. He contrasted this alignment with the preferences of Israel’s adversaries.

“Trump wants to work with Netanyahu,” Falk said. He listed Hamas, Hezbollah, the Houthis, and Iran as groups that want Netanyahu to lose. Falk added that the alliance between Israel and the United States has never been stronger, while Iran and its proxies have never been weaker. His remarks did not specify a timetable or method for the regime's removal.
