GnasherJew, a team of Jewish online investigators, has published a resource identifying approximately 40 medical professionals within the National Health Service who used public social media platforms to share antisemitic content. The group, which specializes in tracking extremism and Holocaust denial, detailed the online activity of practicing doctors, consultants, surgeons, and therapists on its website.

The dossiers include specific posts from Dr. Mazin Fageir, a senior trauma and orthopedic surgeon at the Royal Free Hospital in London. Screenshots on the page show Fageir sharing a cartoon of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu pushing a coffin into an Auschwitz oven. In another post from May 2021, during the war in Gaza, Fageir replied to news of a rocket strike in Givatayim by writing, "May you live under rocket fire forever, amen," and adding that Israeli citizens would be "wiped out one day."

Dr. Nizar Ali Mhani, an NHS consultant orthodontist and honorary clinical lecturer at Cardiff University, is also featured. During the aftermath of the October 7 attacks, Mhani posted material comparing Hamas actions to the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. He asked, "Would anyone have the audacity or idiocy to ever suggest that the brave Jews who resisted the Warsaw Ghetto genocide used civilians as human shields because they used bunkers and tunnels?"

Dr. Asaad Nemer Shamallakh, an anesthetist at Swansea Bay University Health Board, published a Facebook post on October 8, 2023, mourning relatives killed in a missile strike. He wrote that the "Zionist succeeded in gouging out our eyes" and that the family would return to the battlefield. In a subsequent post that day, Shamallakh compared historical Islamic battles to the Palestinian conflict, stating, "You are the Companions of the Prophet."

GnasherJew told The Jerusalem Post that the General Medical Council has taken little to no action on their reports. The group criticized the GMC's reported 19% regulatory action rate in antisemitism cases, arguing that the failure to act encourages the behavior. They noted that no action appeared to have been taken regarding Fageir, Mhani, or Shamallakh despite documented gross antisemitism.

A spokesperson for the GMC responded by stating that antisemitism is completely unacceptable. The council reported that approximately 19.5% of doctors faced regulatory action in cases where complaints regarding antisemitism were raised. This includes two doctors erased from the medical register, one who received a suspension, and two who were issued warnings.

A spokesperson for the Royal Free London said the hospital expects staff to ensure their online content is consistent with the trust’s values. The group noted that the named clinicians were contacted via NHS trust press offices and regulatory bodies but did not respond by publication time. The Swansea Bay University Health Board also did not respond to an email request for comment.

These findings coincide with a recent documentary by the Campaign Against Antisemitism titled Malignant: Antisemitism in the NHS. The film features testimonies from Jewish patients and staff, including a nurse in Cambridge who saw a colleague perform a Nazi salute. Polling published with the documentary found that over four in ten British Jews who used NHS services since October 2023 took steps to conceal their Jewish identity.
