The NFL, Apple Music, and Jay-Z announced on Monday that the rapper will lead the Super Bowl LXI Halftime Show. The performance is scheduled for February 14, 2027, at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. This marks the first time the artist will headline the event despite his long-standing ties to the league.
Jay-Z’s company, Roc Nation, has produced the halftime show since 2019. The firm recently signed a five-year extension to maintain that role through 2029. Under Roc Nation’s direction, the productions have shifted toward hip-hop and rap. Last year’s show at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, featured Bad Bunny alongside guests Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin.
Los Angeles has hosted the halftime show previously. The 2022 performance featured Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and Kendrick Lamar. Cameos appeared by 50 Cent and Anderson .Paak. Other recent headliners include Kendrick Lamar and SZA in 2025, Usher in 2024, and Rihanna in 2023.
Jay-Z has been touring to mark the 30th anniversary of his debut album, Reasonable Doubt, and the 25th anniversary of The Blueprint. The tour began with three nights at Yankee Stadium in July. He then played two shows in London and one in Paris in September.
The tour concluded on October 23 and 24 at SoFi Stadium. These final dates will serve as a direct warm-up for his upcoming Super Bowl performance at the same venue.
