Jay-Z will headline the 2027 Super Bowl Halftime Show.

The performance is scheduled for Sunday, February 14, 2027. The game will take place at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. This venue is the home field for the Los Angeles Rams and the Los Angeles Chargers. The event will air on ABC and ESPN.

The announcement came during the Monday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles. ABC commentator Scott Van Pelt broke the news. He said, “It will be Jay-Z in SoFi on [Valentine’s Day]. We’ll all be looking forward to seeing that.” Analyst Jason Kelce agreed. He called the rapper “the GOAT.” Kelce noted that Jay-Z has more stadium-ready hits than most artists have songs.

Jay-Z expressed his excitement in a statement. He described the moment as a journey from Reasonable Doubt to the Super Bowl stage. He cited thirty years of music, work, and culture. He called the upcoming performance a dream come true. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell also spoke about the decision. He said he had one request when Roc Nation agreed to produce the show in the past. He wanted Jay-Z to take the stage himself when the moment felt right. Goodell said he is excited for fans to see the artist's impact.

Apple Music VP Oliver Schusser praised the rapper's influence on global music culture. He said the company has worked closely with Jay-Z for several years. He added that the company is thrilled he will perform on the stage he helped curate. ESPN Chairman Jimmy Pitaro highlighted Jay-Z's 25 Grammy Awards. Pitaro stated that the performance will be a milestone in a career synonymous with success. The networks plan to showcase the set across their platforms, including Disney+.

This is not Jay-Z's first connection to the Super Bowl halftime slot. His company Roc Nation has a deal with the NFL that began in 2019. The agreement was renewed in 2024. Under this arrangement, Roc Nation curates the halftime show. The league consults the company on entertainment offerings. The partnership also includes work to strengthen community through music and the NFL's Inspire Change initiative. Jay-Z joins a list of past headliners that includes Beyonce, Bad Bunny, and Michael Jackson.

The previous halftime show featured Bad Bunny. He performed at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, earlier this year. His 13-minute set included hits like “Tití Me Preguntó” and “MONACO.” The performance featured celebrity cameos and ended with a message of unity on the stadium screens. The NFL first linked with Jay-Z in 2019 following the Colin Kaepernick controversy. Kaepernick said in September 2026 that the NFL blackballed him. He noted that the league brought in Jay-Z to help revitalize its brand after the protests.
